Danny is a Mental Performance Consultant and Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) currently pursuing his Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy (DMFT) at Hope International University, where he also earned his master’s degree and was selected as the student commencement speaker. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with his B.A. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University.
Danny has played and coached volleyball for over 15 years. At Damien High School in La Verne, he was a two-time CIF-SS champion, earning titles in 2015 and 2016. At Azusa Pacific University, he served as captain and president of the men’s club volleyball program for three years and led the team to the 2019 SCCVL Division II championship. While completing his master’s degree, he competed with the men’s volleyball team, which placed second in the GSAC championship tournament. In 2021, he served as assistant coach for the girls’ varsity volleyball
program at Claremont High School. Danny continues to compete recreationally in indoor, beach, and grass volleyball tournaments throughout Southern California.
Danny’s clinical experience includes work with teens and young adults, as well as couples and families navigating anxiety, depression, major life transitions, relational conflict, and questions of identity and purpose. He works with athletes of all ages and levels, as well as parents and coaches, as he supports those struggling with performance anxiety, perfectionism, fear of failure, confidence, motivation, return from injury, and the identity shifts that accompany entering and leaving competitive
sport. While his own experience is rooted in volleyball, Danny has a love for all sports and consults with athletes across a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. He draws upon evidence-based principles of mental performance that remain true regardless of the sport.
Danny uses an integrative approach rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and solution-focused practice. He believes mental and physical health are inseparable, and that optimal performance requires attention to both. Danny works to build genuine internal steadiness, grounded in values specific to each athlete. He helps clients clarify what matters to them and competing with confidence and consistency.
