Kaila is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Mental Performance Consultant. Kaila has coached alongside former USA Olympians and has helped develop athletes who currently compete for USA National and Junior National Teams. She has also coached volleyball for eight years at Tstreet Volleyball Club and Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine.

A Huntington Beach native, Kaila competed at an elite level in both soccer and volleyball. She was a four-year, dual-sport varsity athlete in high school and was named Female Athlete of the Year during her senior year. Kaila earned her master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Concordia University Irvine, where she also competed as a scholarship beach volleyball athlete. Following her time at Concordia, she went on to play professional volleyball for several seasons before retiring as a player.

Kaila’s experiences as both an athlete and coach have given her a deep understanding and empathy for those who navigate performance pressures, perfectionism, fear of failure, self-confidence challenges, anxiety, depression, and injury. As a counselor and mental performance consultant, her goal is to help athletes reach their highest potential while providing psychoeducation and support through the challenges that come with competitive sport.

Through an integrative, cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling and mental performance consulting, Kaila strives to help athletes develop resilience, confidence, and the mental skills necessary to perform at their best while maintaining a lasting sense of joy in their sport.
